Is your car’s cabin getting too hot for comfort? Air conditioning systems are essential for our driving pleasure, yet we often take AC for granted until it stops working on a sweltering summer day. If you find your car AC not working one day, you may have one of the following issues. A technician at your local Chevy dealership can promptly diagnose and repair it.

Your AC Air Isn’t Cold Enough

If the refrigerant in your AC system is low or stops flowing properly, the AC won’t be able to generate coldness for your cabin. A blocked or faulty condenser might cause this issue. A malfunctioning clutch switch inside the compressor would also stop the refrigerant from cooling your car.

Sometimes, car air conditioners spring a refrigerant leak in one of the connections or hoses, which would also interrupt the cooling process. If your AC has a leak, the leaking refrigerator can be difficult to see, so you’ll probably need a technician to find and repair it.

Your AC Stops Blowing Air

If your AC stops blowing any air into your cabin, an electrical problem such as a faulty relay or blown fuse may have brought the blower motor to a halt. The blower motor itself may have become worn down over time or become damaged by debris flying into the system. A clogged air intake would also prevent the air from blowing into the AC and onward into your cabin.

Your AC Is Dripping Water

Each car AC system has a drain line that takes excess moisture from the evaporator to the outside of the vehicle. If this drain line becomes clogged, the moisture created by the AC’s condensation may build up and start dripping into your cabin. When left unused over winter, a build-up of bacteria inside the AC can sometimes clog the drain line and cause this problem.

Your AC Air Smells Strange

When bacteria builds up in an unused car air conditioner, you’re likely to smell mildew when you finally turn it on. Sometimes, this unpleasant smell of fungi and mold can be quite pungent. To keep your cabin smelling fresh and fragrant, it’s best to have a technician clean the inside of your air-con without delay.

Your AC Makes Odd Noises

If you ever hear knocking, rattling, or other unusual sounds when you turn on your AC, it’s quite likely that some leaves or debris have been sucked into the AC and are trapped inside. A failed compressor clutch or worn-out bearing might also produce strange sounds.
