For over a hundred years, GMC has been building SUVs, pickups, vans, and trucks for the premium market. The 2021 GMC Acadia follows the footsteps of the first Acadia that was introduced in 2007. Here are a few things you should know about the family SUV that can seat up to 7 people.

Performance of the 2021 GMC Acadia

The Acadia offers three different engines: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, and finally a 3.6-liter V6 engine. The preferred engine out of the three is the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with a 9-speed transmission. It is versatile and allows either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

It has a quiet acceleration and offers a very smooth ride. Since the turbocharged engine has more power, it improves the towing capacity by about 500 pounds. The 3.6-liter V6 engine has an impressive towing capacity of about 4000 pounds.

Technology Package

The Acadia has a striking 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that provides competitive connectivity features. The interface is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

One of the stunning aspects of the vehicle’s intelligent technology package is the 6-inch Heads-up display that projects information directly into the windshield. You don’t have to remove your eyes from the road while looking at key information like speed, navigation, phone, etc.

IntelliBeam

IntelliBeam is a lighting technology that is incorporated in the Acadia. It will automatically turn the high beam headlamps on and off according to the surrounding traffic conditions. This feature is an added advantage and helps you drive safely in the dark.

Interior and Cargo

The SUV has three rows of seats in the cabin and is a perfect choice for someone with a big family. The rear and the middle row of seats can be folded to increase the cargo space. The driver and the front passenger’s seats are heated and ventilated. There are up to 79 cubic feet of cargo space that also come with a hands-free programmable power liftgate.

GMC Pro Safety Plus

Forward Collision and Pedestrian Alerts

Forward Collision Alert warns you when it detects the possibility of a front-end collision. This alert combined with the automatic hard emergency braking mechanism helps in avoiding or reducing the severity of an impact. Front Pedestrian braking uses a camera to detect pedestrians and enhances the driver’s braking during the day.

Other Safety Features

The Following Distance Indicator displays the gap between your vehicle and the one you are following and helps you drive at a safe distance. The Acadia is loaded with other safety features like Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and many more.

With a robust exterior and a comfortable, cargo-friendly interior, the Acadia is the best in its class.
